The Best Dad Ever

So I sat down with my six-year-old to make Father's Day cards. In attempt to get the creative juices flowing, I asked him, "Why is Daddy the best?"

Thinking.

"Because...

(still thinking)

"...well because he's not a robber."

This is heartwarming stuff here, folks.

"Anything else?"

"Um, I don't know. Can I have snack?"

It appears that my son does not have a future with Hallmark.

I decided to shelve that project for another day.

We tried again today and apparently he had been giving it some thought.



So get your tissues out because here is the official list of Why Phil is the Best Dad Ever (as told by Caleb):



1. He loves Jesus

2. He gives me extra time at bedtime

3. He grills chicken for me

4. He teaches me cool moves on the skateboard

5. He fixes my dead light bulbs in my room

(I told you that you were going to need tissues)

6. He sometimes gives me too much candy

7. When we go bowling, he lets me win

8. He is kind



9. He lets me not brush my teeth when it's really late at night

(Hmm, I hope that's not on the days he gives him too much candy)

10. Sometimes he burps really loud and tells rude jokes at the table

(Umm, there goes his Father-of-the-Year award)



11. He reads me stories and reads to me from his Bible

(Not to mention that he once set Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego on fire in our kitchen)

12. He saves for my college account

13. He spins me around on the black chair until I get dizzy

14. He works so he can get money to feed us and give us clothes and stuff



15. On my birthday, he gives me Lucky Charms for breakfast

16. He plays games with me

17. He takes me camping



18. He is merciful

And, last but not least...

19. He really is not a robber
