Asking for Rain

Ask rain from the LORD at the time of the spring rain.
Zechariah 10:1

As you may know, we've been praying for a miracle around here.

And we're finding out that when you really start asking God for something and waiting on Him, it becomes more about what He does in you than the thing you want Him to do for you.

At first, it doesn't seem like all that big of a deal to ask the God of the universe for a miracle.

But then sometimes it becomes hard to see God for all of the "reality" around you.

The "reality" of looking at a big gaping hole in the back of your child's mouth after you pray every day.

The "reality" of being in the ninth floor surgeon's office again discussing procedures and possible complications, all while you're kids are watching expectantly, waiting for you to tell this surgeon you are expecting a miracle.

And the reality of having to pick a date for surgery while still believing God is able to do a miracle.

We scheduled surgery for March 2nd, because we are practical, and we have no formulas about how God works.

But we continue to pray, because the presence of God in our lives is the most powerful reality we have, and it becomes more real the more we pray.

We continue to pray because we believe that God heals people of all kinds of diseases and disabilities, and we are seeing it happen around us.

"Ask God for rain in the season of rain..."

We believe it is a season of God coming to touch bodies and hearts and He is going to do even greater things than we've ever heard of, so we are asking.

And the more we pray, the less it becomes about just keeping Joshua from having surgery again, and the more it becomes about wanting all the people around us who live in the hurtful realities of this world to see that God is very real and powerful and very concerned with us.

We are not putting God in a box to say that He has to show us His power and love in a certain way, and if He really loves Joshua, He will heal him in this particular way by this particular date.

Regardless of what happens, we are absolutely certain that God loves us all deeply and wants to touch each of us with His love and pour His power into our lives.

That is our reality.

The LORD is near to all who call on Him,
to all who call on Him in truth.
